I was so excited when this beautiful client emailed me to let me know she was expecting again and was interested in a maternity session to capture her baby bump as well as a newborn session! She was the perfect client for my Bump to Baby package as I am finding so many expecting parents looking to capture the moments before and after baby arrives!

First, I could not have asked for a more stunning Mom to Be! She is simply gorgeous…one of those pregnant women you see and just wonder how it is possible to look so amazing with a baby in the belly! Second, her two year old son could not be more adorable and since I have already photographed him several times there was no time needed to get him to warm up to my camera! Third, we had the most spectacular days for our two shoots…I’ll get to that next!

I love when a client has a vision and I am happy for them to share it with me! This second time mom-to-be was hoping for some maternity portraits in the snow!  Well, normally in January in Connecticut that should not be a problem….except this year we seemed to have very little snow! So, because we did not want to wait too long in fear or her delivering before the session we decided to go ahead with outdoor portraits without the snow. We had the most beautiful, sunny, winter day! It was not terribly cold and the sunset and light was nothing short of spectacular! And the bonus was within a few days of our session there was snow in the forecast! I told her, “let’s make a last minute call on the session when we KNOW we have snow”! So we did….late one afternoon as the snowflakes were winding down we headed out to one of my favorite hidden gem locations and we captured some magical maternity snow portraits!

Here’s the BUMP….now we are still wating on the BABY!Gown from Kobieta Clothing – http://www.shopkobieta.comGown from Sew Trendy

Capturing a mother’s growing belly in a maternity session and then meeting the baby a few weeks later at the newborn session is one of my favorite combinations of photo sessions. I was pregnant four times and gave birth to three children. I know how special and fragile this time can be in life. It’s a time of joy and feelings of nervousness all at the same time. But, it is a time that deserves to be captured. Once the baby arrives it’s amazing how quickly you appreciate the miraculous transformation of our body in pregnancy.

One of the best parts of my job is getting to know my clients. At the maternity session it is wonderful opportunity for us to get to know each other before the newborn session. I feel an instant bond with my clients when I get them to embrace the change in their body and realize it is only a matter of time before the baby arrives and whether they believe it or not they will miss reaching down at their round belly.

Weeks after the maternity session, I wait in anticipation of hearing the news of the baby’s arrival. Some arrive early, some on time and lately I am finding more arrive late!! But regardless of when the baby makes their grand appearance it is one I look forward to because I know within a week or so they will be with me at the newborn session capturing all the wonderful moments of a babies first few weeks of life! No matter how many babies I photograph I still analyze each one in awe of the tiny fingers, toes, little button noses and even cute dimples! I could just cuddle them all day….even if it means a little mess along the way!

Because I believe so greatly in the power of my relationship with clients I strongly encourage a maternity session and newborn session be booked together through my Bump to Baby discounted combined sessions. I really place a high value on getting to know the parents-to-be before the baby arrives and I would love it if every newborn client did a maternity session before the baby arrives!

Here is one of my recent favorites! I could not be happier for this client. Through our sessions I came to know them and I know this baby was well worth the wait, a blessing and a gift they will treasure forever. I am just grateful they invited me into their life to capture this special time.

Best of 2015

It’s hard to believe another year has come to an end. The time just flies by too quickly. Before I start another year and think ahead to goals and resolutions I have to take some time to reflect on this past year.

The year 2015 was indeed a great year! It far exceeded my expectations for my business and none of that would be possible without each and every client who trusted and shared your family with me. Whether it was capturing the first days of a babies life or celebrating a graduating high school senior or simply wanting to document a moment in time for your family, I am truly blessed to have been the one chosen to carry out the job of photographing and documenting this time in your life.

I was fortunate this year to have many assistants who are aspiring photographers. It was a win/win for all of us. I was able to share with them what I have learned so far in my journey and in turn they were able to help take some of the work off my plate and allow me to photograph more families. It’s hard to believe, but I ended the year with 504 sessions. I remember every single one and the time I have spent with each client is special to me.

At the end of each year, I spend days pouring over session by session and pulling out some of the best moments and photographs from the year. I can honestly say there are many more then I can share!   But for now here they are…hope you enjoy as much as I do.

Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing your time with me and choosing me to have the honor of photographing your family, babies, children and more. And if we did not yet have the chance to meet I would love to see you in 2016!

 All the best,

There was a Baby Boy on the way and I was so happy to photograph Mom-to-be before the big day!  They say good things come to those who wait!  We rescheduled our maternity shoot several times because we were waiting for just the right day.  We pictured fresh snow, temperatures in the 30’s and if we were lucky a sunset…let’s just say we got it all!  What a beautiful Mom-to-be….when she arrived to the studio with her coat on at first I was confused and thought I had messed up my schedule as I could not even tell she was pregnant!  She had the most perfect round belly!

We started her maternity shoot in the studio before venturing outside to two different locations to capture this beautiful moment in time!  Did I mention there was two feet of snow on the ground?  It didn’t stop us…we had so much fun making our way through the snow and lots of laughs!  We must have done something right as 36 hours later Baby boy arrived!  His newborn shoot was just as special…I’ll be sharing those photos on the blog soon! 2015-02-23_00012015-02-23_00022015-02-23_00032015-02-23_00042015-02-23_00052015-02-23_0006

I love maternity photo shoots!  It was so fun photographing this gorgeous soon-to-be mom and dad!  This will be the couple’s first baby…and it’s a girl!  I see lots of pink  in the future for our newborn shoot in just a few weeks!  Our session was planned for a pregnancy silhouette at sunset.  However you can’t control mother nature and she chose not cooperate so we headed into the studio!  When they went to leave we went outside to arrive to the most amazing sunset!  What a surprise!  Bonus, now we are able to get studio maternity shots and outdoor shots as we had originally planned for!  What a beautiful moment to capture for these sweet parents-to-be!
